Soft Biometrics

Soft biometrics are very new. In some groups, soft biometrics are broad categorisations (age, race, gender etc.) which can be used to augment conventional biometrics. Our approaches concern using human descriptions to recognise people. These can be used to augment biometric signatures or alone. The eventual aim is to be able to recognise people from witness statements by retrieving images which relate to the verbal descriptions. You are welcome to help with our research by labelling some videos for us at http://sbio2010.ecs.soton.ac.uk/, you’ll need to register first with a username and password (we don’t use the email address so any valid address will do eg. lab@ecs.soton.ac.uk).
